Walls are rarely perfectly flat. Dips, bulges, and uneven surfaces are common in older homes, heritage buildings, and plastered walls – and they cause frames to sit at an angle no amount of adjustment will fix. The problem is not your frame or your installation. It is the wall behind the button.

wallCLIXX™ is designed to deliver a flush, level installation on flat wall surfaces. For minor wall irregularities some professional installers use a simple and effective field technique – placing one, two, or three standard washers behind the wall button on the side where the wall dips inward. This brings the button face forward to compensate for the dip, creating a level mounting plane for the frame to engage against.

Washer specification for this technique:

Use a standard washer with an OD of 20mm (25/32 inch) and an ID of 4mm (5/32 inch) — this sits completely hidden behind the 23mm (29/32 inch) wall button with no aesthetic compromise. Available at any hardware store globally. Stack one, two, or three washers depending on the depth of the dip until the button face sits level with the surrounding wall surface.

Start with one washer, hold the button against the wall, and assess the level before drilling. Add washers until the button face sits flush and level. Once correct drill, mount, and install as normal. The click confirms correct engagement as always.
